Artist Statement
My work draws inspiration from the beauty and fragility of nature. As I walk and observe the landscape I capture its essence in my sketchbook. These moments in nature inspire my creative journey where I explore the connection between place, memory, and emotion.
In the studio I develop larger, semi-abstract paintings from my sketches. I work intuitively, gesturally and from memory. My brushstrokes are energetic, and I use sticks and charcoal found in nature to create marks that reflect my personal experience with the landscape.
Without boundaries I feel a sense of excitement and creative freedom, allowing the process to unfold and the end result to remain unknown
