Honeymoon Bay Tasmania - relief hand printing, carving a woodblock for each colour Mokuhanga (Moku = wood, hanga = print)
The traditional Japanese method of multi woodblock printing in registration is used to produce this handmade relief print. A drawn image is traced on to the woodblocks that are then hand-carved using chisels and gouges. A new woodblock is created for each colour. Water-based pigment colours and rice starch give the pigment âbodyâ and allow the color particles to remain in suspension which is then brushed on to the woodblock. Printing on toJapanese mulberry paper is done by hand using a rubbing tool called a baren. A process of discipline and sensibility. #printmaking #japanesepapers #tasmania#willoughbyartscentre

Quick sketch and rest stop as dizzy from the altitude starting to walk up Waynapicchu. Walked part of the way and aborted as a little scary with no hand rails and young people embracing the steep climbđ„č. Peru is the most amazing country đ so much to enjoy.
