Artist Statement

My work explores the beauty, complexity, and fragility of both natural and urban environments. Walking through landscape and city spaces, I record impressions en plein air in my sketchbook, responding intuitively to light, atmosphere, structure, and rhythm. These observations form the basis of my semi-abstract paintings.

In the studio, I work from memory, developing larger pieces through gestural mark-making and layered abstraction. Using acrylic, ink, charcoal, collage, and found materials, I create energetic surfaces that reflect a personal connection to place. Balancing observation with intuition, I allow each work to unfold freely, capturing the emotional and physical experience of the environments I encounter.
